Until now, as Bitcoin difficulty mining levels rose along with Bitcoin’s price, it has become exorbitant to send Bitcoin in whole or fractions, to another user. So if you want to pay somebody for a cup of coffee with Bitcoin , it might cost you 3 times the cost of the actual coffee to have the Bitcoin reach the other party’s wallet.
